Foundational Biology
From consulting and strategy development to implementation
Foundational Biology:
Basics & Modules
The foundational biology course is designed to provide students with a strong understanding of the fundamental principles in biology. This is a Hybrid Course between, British As/A levels & Access to HE (science) [Biology], and American MCAT & AP Biology. Through these modules, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of foundational biology concepts.
This course is divided into several modules, each focusing on different aspects of the subject:
INTRO TO BIOLOGY https://www.khanacademy.org/science/biology/intro-to-biology
BIOMOLECULES & CHEMISTRY OF LIFE: basics of cell structure and function, covering topics such as cell organelles, membrane transport, and cellular metabolism.
CELL STRUCTURE & FUNCTION
CELLULAR COMMUNICATION, CYCLE & EXCHANGE OF SUBSTANCES
ENERGY TRANSFER CELLS AND ANIMALS
HUMAN BIOLOGY AND PHYSIOLOGY: the functions of major organ systems and homeostasis. (https://www.khanacademy.org/test-prep/mcat/physical-processes https://www.khanacademy.org/science/health-and-medicine/circulatory-system)
HUMAN IMMUNOLOGY, PATHOLOGY/ DISEASE: includes classifications of disease etc, and human immunology. (https://www.sqa.org.uk/files_ccc/h-course-spec-human-biology.pdf [P4])
GENETICS, CONTROL OF GENE EXPRESSION: Mendelian inheritance, DNA replication, and gene expression. Includes EVOLUTION, learning about natural selection, adaptation, and speciation.
BIODIVERSITY (CLASSIFICATIONS) AND ECOLOGY: examining the interactions between organisms and their environment and classification of animals linking with evolution etc.
